This weekend, I went to the mall close to my house to finish up some Valentine’s Day shopping. Plus, I needed a dress for my nephews’ baptism going on this weekend (afterall, I am one of the Godmothers, and photos of me will be seen for years to come, so I must be fabulous.) Anyhow, I left with my boyfriend’s gift – a gorgeous blazer from Zara…and a bundle of things I got for myself. I couldn’t stop. It was one of those days where everything in the mall was beyond marvelous, and my credit card was glowing in my wallet, begging to be taken out to play.
So, alas, what did I leave with? Well, three pairs of shoes, a clutch, a belt, and a dress. I’d been on the prowl to replace my favorite purple suede pumps that were flatlining, plus a leopard-print belt. Did I need a new clutch, a pair of cork-soled stilettos, or yet another pair of black heels? Nah, not really, but who can blame me for scooping them up? ::silence:: That’s what I thought.
Now, I know that suede is not really all that appropriate for spring, but who cares! When I saw these plum and navy platform slingbacks, I knew I had to have them. They look a little rough in the lighting, and the color didn’t come through, but they are spectacular in real life, and boyfriend-approved! Better yet, they were on clearance for just under $40! Though they don’t have them in purple online (check your local Nine West stores), they do have them in black, and black & brown on the Nine West site.
Next up, I skipped on over to the Forever 21 to see if I could find a pair of shoes I saw on one of my favorite bloggers: Pretty Shiny Sparkly. No luck finding the gorgeous Miu Miu-inspired black platforms, but my Spring-craving soul saw these cream, cork-soled floral-detail platform sandals and had to at least try them on. I don’t normally go for shoes like this. I normally like much more unusual, fierce shoes, but they were so girly and I suddenly felt like skipping in a flowy sun dress, so I added them to my purchase queue. After I picked these, I had to balance out the overt girliness with a little more edginess and oomph. That’s when I saw the suede, black lace up stilettos that set my heart ablaze. I saw myself pairing them with an ultra girly dress, a bomber jacket, and a long pendant necklace. Sassy, sexy and femine. Yes, please! Oh, and as I was heading to the checkout line, I saw this bronzey, leopard print belt for an almost illegally cheap $4.80 (sorry, I couldn’t find it on the site, but here’s a gorgeous, similar swap.)
And last, but not least, I swung through the Urban Outfitters – of course – and spotted a neutral, sequins clutch that reminded me of something that could have been bought at a vintage store, or taken out of my grandma’s closet. It was on sale for $19.99 (even though the site says $38), so, naturally, I couldn’t turn it down. I loved the mix of muted grey with the cream, and the patterned sequins. Perfect to dress up a simple, monotone outfit!
And there you have it ladies and ladies, those were my weekend finds. It took all the self control I had not to buy up all of Zara and J. Crew, and Urban Outfitters, and beyond, but I made it out alive, and with my bank account somewhat unharmed. Hope everyone had a beautiful Valentine’s Day!
